Whale watching with the best seats on the tour boat M/S Marianne

Nature Park Lillebælt is home to one of the world’s densest populations of harbour porpoises, and these small, curious whales are often seen at the surface. Boat trips in Lillebælt are always full of memorable moments. Besides harbour porpoises, the park is home to many seals and bird species – and if you’re lucky, you may even spot white-tailed eagles along the way. While enjoying the rich wildlife, you’ll also take in stunning views of Lillebælt’s remarkable coastline. Shaped by the Ice Age, the landscape features small islands, eroded coastal cliffs and beautiful sandy beaches – best experienced from the water.

During the cruise
The tour is calm and relaxed, depending on weather and current conditions. Each trip is different, as the goal is to create as many experiences as possible, with wildlife sightings and engaging stories throughout the journey.

A whale safari is exciting for both children and adults, making it a perfect family activity. If children on board would like to, they are welcome in the wheelhouse, where they can try steering the boat under the skipper’s guidance.

During the cruise, the skipper is happy to share stories about the harbour porpoises, local wildlife and nature – as well as the bridges and the surrounding area.

On board MS Marianne
MS Marianne was originally a stone-fishing vessel built in 1928 and converted into a leisure fishing boat in 1997. Today, she is a safety-approved tour boat with excellent seating for all 12 passengers.

Practical information
Departure time: Your ticket shows the departure time. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure.
Starting point: MS Marianne mainly departs from Middelfart Old Harbour, and on selected tours also from Snoghøj and Fredericia.
Toilet: A toilet is available on deck level.
Clothing: Dress for the weather – the sea air can be fresh. Seating is outdoors, with a canopy providing shelter from sun and rain.

Safety: Life jackets and life rafts are available on board.

Dogs: Small dogs may join by agreement with the skipper.

Food & drinks: You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages on board.

MS Marianne also offers a range of special trips, such as beautiful sunset cruises, whale safaris with fish tapas, and sea-hunting experiences. For the sake of the fish stocks in Lillebælt, fishing trips cannot be arranged with MS Marianne.
