Climate takes centre stage by the Little Belt

In late August, Middelfart fills with tents of interested visitors, stages hosting debates, and the scents of vegetarian food stalls. You look out over the Little Belt while debates, workshops and music fill three days.
Klimafolkemødet has grown from a local event into Denmark’s gathering point for climate debate. In 2019, the Region of Southern Denmark and Middelfart Municipality entered a partnership agreement that lifted the meeting to national scale.

Here you’ll meet organisations and associations interested in climate and the green transition, political decision-makers debating possible solutions and challenges, and researchers and companies presenting concrete examples from research and industry.

You can go from a debate on energy policy to a workshop on sustainable consumption, on to a conversation with a researcher, and end the day with music in the square.

There are no tickets and no entry fee, making it possible for families, professionals and curious citizens alike to show up and find their own way into the climate agenda.

The organisers behind Klimafolkemødet include a wide range of organisations, companies and public bodies that contribute content to the programme each year. Middelfart’s location by the Little Belt sets the scene: a town on a human scale, where nature and the climate challenge lie right outside the door.
