Staurby Skov Activity Forest

Playground and meeting point in the middle of the forest

The family area sits at the heart of Staurby Skov, between Middelfart and Strib. It was built in 2023 by Middelfart Municipality, with support from the Nordea Foundation, as a large nature playground where children can climb, swing and move among the trees. Climb the lookout tower, zip along on the zip line, train on the exercise equipment or take on the obstacle courses.
There’s also a 12-hole disc golf course, and you can borrow discs at the large welcome sign. When you’re done, put your disc back in the box – along with any discs you find along the way.

Orienteering in the forest

“Find vej i Staurby” is a simple orienteering course that takes you through the whole forest. The reward: nature experiences and fresh air. You’ll find the orienteering map here.

Pavilion and campfire shelters

Next to the playground is the pavilion, a covered picnic shelter with two long plank tables seating 30 people; the ends are set up for wheelchair users. Inside, you’ll find a box of equipment for exploring the forest’s plants and animals, meant for school classes as well as anyone else visiting. Close to the pavilion is a small seating stand with a stage, used for cultural events and teaching.

Around the area are campfire shelters with fire pits, also adapted for wheelchair users, plus a fitness trail for those who want to combine play with exercise. The family area works well as a meeting point when a trip to Staurby Skov is combined with a picnic, play or a break along the way.
