Quiet nature
Feel the calm
The water lies still at Gamborg Fjord, part of the EU habitat area Lillebælt and an internationally protected bird sanctuary.
The white-tailed eagle circles above Fønsvang Sø – Funens second-largest lake – where wading birds nest and the kingfisher can be spotted from the bird tower.
Along Lillebæltstien, you'll encounter coastal cliffs and forests. The 27 km route takes you through beaches, open fields, and untouched woodland.
Middelfart Municipality has a wealth of quiet nature spots – from Røjle Klint with its 37-meter-high coastal cliffs to Brænde Ådal, considered one of Fyn's most beautiful and varied natural areas, with a 28 km valley route. You'll also find Ejby Mose, where 245 plant species have been recorded, and Hindsgavl Peninsula with ancient beech forests and wet meadows.
These are quiet nature experiences that don't ask much of you – just time and attention. Peace and nature in Middelfart are always within reach.

Røjle Klint
A hike along the coast can take you past the striking Røjle Klint – 37 meters of sheer cliff. Millions of years ago, these waters were home to giant predatory sharks. Today, it's one of the best places in the country to see what happened in Denmark during the ice ages. Try a guided pod walk.
Hindsgavl Peninsula
Whether you're into walking, cultural heritage, or outdoor activities, Hindsgavl Peninsula is a favorite – open plains, ancient beech forests, wet meadows, and steep slopes. The area has a large and varied population of wildlife and plants, and holds many compelling stories: a moat, ruins, and activities to explore.

Strib Lighthouse
At the tip of Strib Odde stands the 21-meter-high, whitewashed Strib Lighthouse, looking out over Lillebælt toward the bridges. Beautiful nature, remarkable history and water and beaches as far as you can see.

Brænde Ådal
Brænde Ådal is one of the most beautiful and varied natural areas on Funen. The landscape in the valley is shaped by many different habitat types and species. Along the 28 km route, you'll find viewpoints, a natural pause.

Ejby Marsh
East of Ejby lies Ejby Marsh – one of Funen's largest marsh areas. It's a valuable habitat for many animals and plants and home to many small birds. Go for a walk and listen to the nightingale’s song.
