Ice Cream Shops

A crisp cone, homemade marshmallow cream and a chocolate meringue on top. It's a classic Danish summer tradition – and in Middelfart you can enjoy it with a view of Lillebælt.

Some of the ice cream shops look out over Lillebælt, others sit beneath the forest canopy – here you can enjoy the calm and the surroundings while the ice cream slowly loses its shape.

Skovgrillen on Brovejen 353 is one of the best-known spots: a traditional roadside café that has stood on the site since the Lillebælt Bridge was built in 1935. Here you can get soft ice cream, ice lollies and the classic large cone with scoops, marshmallow cream and jam.

Several of the spots – like Skovgrillen at one end of town and Café Sommer at the other – are known for their enormous ice cream cones. Who makes the biggest is a matter of debate among those in the know.
