Smuk solnedgang over Strib Fyr i Middelfart

Gold and Torpedoes

Strib guards the entrance to Lillebælt

During World War II, the Germans dug torpedo garages into the cliff. Concrete gates facing the water. Today, the rails are gone, but the tracks can still be seen.
Follow the coast east, and the trail along the cliff. Out here, coastal fishing was a part time job for the farmers. They sailed out when the fields were sown and the cows were fed.

Walk a bit further and Røjle Klint appears like an imprint of nature's raw force. Earth slides, falls, runs from all angles. Trees hang crown-down or have roots jutting into nothingness. Geology reveals itself as fossils and minerals: shark teeth, whale bones, satin spar, phosphorite. It is even said that you can find gold in the clay of the cliff.
Kasmose Skov stretches along the coast with shelter sites and paths to the beach.

Tip: After rough weather, you'll find the most fossils.
